Oregon Living 2022 – Blog #25 – Another Really Busy Week!!

Sunday, June 19th., 2022…… HAPPY FATHER”S DAY!   Our day was taken up with a trip with the dogs. Of course I had to wear my new shirt !

We loaded up everything and head up to Detroit Lake. This is an area that was devastated by fires last year. We had done this trip before and we were sure surprised and happy to see all of the improvement since before! The lake is also back to normal level and activity is all around.

We got back home and rested from our trip. We had a nice leisurely day and did pretty much nothing else.

Monday, June 20th., 2022…… HAPPY BIRTHDAY TREASA!  We did our rounds to Albany to Jamie’s and then headed back home. I called Treasa and wished her a happy birthday. She was home with a cold but was doing ok. After that, we spent some time looking at 5th wheels. Long story short – Brittany and Corey are looking to separate and we want to help her get a place so she and Corey can go to work to fix up the house to sell asap. She has indicated that she has a space to rent in a small park in Sweet Home, so that got us to think about looking for something for her. Our (my) plan long term has always been to look for a 5th wheel or trailer to set up on our property here. I have the space for it and I think it would be nice to have a place for folks to use if/when the guest room is occupied. Anyway, we found one that was priced to sell and we went to look at it. Of course, we know it will need work, which I will do. Again, the price was right ($2k). There was another one we wanted to see as well but we couldn’t get together with the guy again after the initial communication. So, we would most likely make a deal to buy this one.

I was able to work out a deal with the guy moving into that space with his 5th wheel. He would move ours to the house before he brings his in there. Perfect!  I want it at our place right now to work on before we move it to the new park. Brittany also had a car conk out on her. It is now scrap. Poor girl! So, we also have been looking for a car for her. We ended up finding a few at a local lot to look at in the next few days. But later, we needed to go take Cathye’s truck to the Comfort Suites parking lot for Josh. We did that and came home and went to bed, knowing we would hear Josh come in through the back slider. The dogs saw to that when he showed up at 3:00am! But all was good and Josh got settled in and we all went back to sleep.

Tuesday, June 21st., 2022……  First day of summer!  And, true to its name, the weather changed today too! It is starting to get hot – they say at least for a week – the temps will slowly climb. It is supposed to get to 95° on Sunday!  We kept plans to the minimum this week since Josh would be here until Friday. But we did stop by that car dealer here in town and I test-drove a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It needed a few things but I was only looking for a reliable driver and this one was also priced right ($1800.00). We left and ran some errands -  I took some bicycle wheels in for a new hub and new tubes - and then we went again and looked at - and after checking the title history and tags - bought the 5th wheel. The guy will deliver it tomorrow.  We went back and negotiated $1600 on the jeep.  We had them sell it to Brittany on paper which we insisted on. They will also be sending it next door to a mechanic to fix a few items. Of course, our next step is to draw up a contract with Brittany covering payments for both vehicles. She will be giving us the titles on both to retain until the loan is paid off. I feel comfortable because we only have a small investment and both of the items are usable here at our place should she default. And most importantly, Corey can get going with the next phase of his life. Later, when we all got back, I made spaghetti for dinner. We rested from a very productive day!

Wednesday, June 22nd., 2022……  Hotter today. Temps in the high 80s.  We hung around the house this morning waiting to hear from the guy hauling the 5th wheel for us. His truck was stolen last week and he was working on damage to it yesterday and today but would call. I got a call that the bicycle wheels were done so we all three took a drive to Albany to get those. But, on the way, the guy called and was hooking up to the 5th wheel now. So, we turned around and headed over there.

The guy followed us home and I had him back it into a rather tight space and he struggled until his partner jumped in and positioned it. But – the guy blew the torque converter on the truck and I had tranny fluid all over my driveway!  We discovered that the concrete was easy to clean with Dawn so that was good. But the asphalt just soaked it up and it’s still streaky with lines and splotches!  But at least the rv is parked!  And I had sent Josh off to the bike shop to pick up the wheels so that will be done.  Later, I didn’t want Cathye to cook so we cleaned up and went out to dinner. We went to Seeds and had a nice meal with hard cider, beer, and lavender cosmos!  Good food and another good but long day.

Thursday, June 23rd., 2022…… The guy has the jeep still and didn’t call today, so we called him and got a voicemail. The girl at the car lot said he probably had gone home. Today, Josh headed off chair shopping. He needs to buy a computer chair – or rather a gaming chair for his computer/work station. While he did that, we tried to level the 5th wheel a little better. I gave up after an hour or so – I need a heavier bottle jack. But we were still able to get the electric going and check all the connections and tally up what bulbs and latches and light covers etc. that it will need. I was pleasantly surprised to see all of the lights work! I still need to hook up the propane tanks and test the hot water system. We will need to recoat the tub because they fiberglassed it and it needs to be epoxy coated to finish it off. She will need to figure out the bed situation and get new mattresses and it also needs a microwave, which will just plug in.  But small things so far…  Once we were done with the leveling attempts, I gave up and came in and rested and then fired up the bbq and cooked steaks for dinner for Josh’s last night here.  I had to wear my hairy hat for laughs!

Friday, June 24th., 2022…… Today was going to be busy!  Josh has loaded up most everything in Cathye’s truck and will be leaving here with Corey at 9:00am to head up to Portland to meet with the apartment folks and get the keys. Rylee and Jama had groomer’s appointments so I took them off for that also at 9:00am. When we get them back, we will load up my truck with the last of Josh’s items (we are giving him the bike, a recliner, and an office chair) and head up there. We need to bring a change of clothes because, as luck would have it, our tickets for Cats is tonight in Portland. The theater is supposed to be really close to Josh’s place, so we will change there and go see the play and then head home. Penny will be coming over at 4:00pm to feed the girls and then again later at 8:00pm to let them out before we get home.  We got everything done at Josh’s place. BTW – it is really nice!  I hope he likes the new big-city lifestyle!  We headed off to the play and enjoyed that. Neither of us had ever seen Cats and we thought that this production was more of a play. Turns out it was a musical which we had to try to figure out the plot to. It wasn’t easy but we got it. It was done well and the cast had some big voices!

We got out of the theater around 10:00pm and got home about 11:45 or so. We let the girls out to pee and we all settled in after a long day!

Saturday, June 25th., 2022……  Today is mowing day!  We decided to get started early since Corey is coming to help. We ate breakfast and I headed out to fuel up all four of the mowers. Penny got here just before 10:00am and we started in. I had Corey do the weed whacking all around the property while Cathye, Penny and I mowed.

Brandon was also here but we kept him inside in the cool resting his injured knee (mini bike spill). We all got finished in about an hour or so. Corey continued working on hauling dirt from the front ditch cleaning project. Brandon got bored and came outside for a bit. I let him help me mow a little, which kept him from trying to run on his sore knee.  Everyone left shortly after that and I took a well- deserved shower and rested for a while.  The jeep is almost done. The guy called me and let me know that the thing was still making noise. That was after new upper and lower control arms, brake pads, rear wheel bearings, and a new rear pinion gear. The shocks are also bad. Total is coming up to $1000.00! But, with all of that and the $200.00 new windshield, it is still coming in under $3,000.00. We might get it Sunday since he wants it out of the shop before another job coming in on Monday.

Oregon Living 2022 – Blog #24 – A Busy Week…

Sunday, June 12th., 2022……  No rain in the forecast for today. They say we are at 50% for tomorrow. I hope to beat those odds and it won’t rain so I can mow again. Cathye headed off to church after we walked and fed the dogs and had breakfast. I had zero plans for today but wanted to get all of the wedding photos mounted that Cathye has had printed and chosen for our wedding wall.

Monday, June 13th., 2022…… I slept in this morning so I didn’t have enough time to go out with Cathye to walk the dogs as I needed to leave to make my 8:00am acupuncture appointment. She walked and fed them and had breakfast. I stopped at McDonald’s on the way home. After getting home, we left again and headed over to Albany to go see Jamie. We stopped and did some shopping at Walmart on the way home. Once we did that and rested for a few minutes, we left again to go to her insurance office. We are moving her car (and her) to my policy and they needed her to sign a cancellation document there which took all of 20 seconds. We then headed to her credit union. I had received my new credit card but wasn’t able to activate it on the phone plus she hadn’t yet received her new one with the name change. And she had ordered checks which hadn’t arrived. They fixed my activation easily but didn’t see any record of her new card in the system. They will look into it and call her later. It turns out that we made the right move in going in. Seems they didn’t order her a new card and no one turned in the request for checks. That was remedied on the phone so we were good.  I checked in with the boat guy and his wife responded that he had scheduling issues but could I bring it in on Thursday. That works and I arranged a time to do that. I also made a call to my estate planner. Cathye has a will which obviously had Jim on it and it needed to be revoked and a new one made. I wanted my guy to sit down with us and advise us for the next steps.  I had to leave a message.

Tuesday, June 14th., 2022……  We decided that after we walked the dogs this morning, we would go out to Kristi’s for breakfast. Together Reese and Kristi have 5 kids and one was graduating middle school and they were closing down after breakfast so they could go to the graduation. They are super people and we sure like going there!  We came back and then ran some more errands before getting back again and feeding the dogs before going to Growlers for dinner with Ron and Teri. Teri was our flower arranger and worked with Cathye in hospice care before retiring. She and Ron have been dating for about 8 months now and seem to be very happy.  Next wedding will be theirs we’re guessing! I also got a call back from my estate guy and we set up a meeting for next month. One more thing almost done!

Wednesday, June 15th., 2022……  Happy Birthday Cherrelyn! We are taking her to dinner later this evening at one of her favorite places – Momiji Sushi! Not our first choice but we’re told they have teriyaki and yakisoba there and we will find something good. Cathye went off to SHEM and I worked on the blog and on my checkbook in the morning. She stopped by Momiji’s on her way home and got a gift card for Cherrelyn. I also worked on arrangement of those photos and such going up on the wedding wall. I have saved a glass shelf – never been out of the sealed box - which Cathye loves, and will go on that wall too. I had forgotten that this morning!  So, now we have to rethink the layout and which wall and adjust for that. But good thing I didn’t start pounding nails this morning!  We hung around the house and then fed and let the dogs out for a bit before heading off to dinner. It was a fun evening!  Penny and Cherrelyn both love sushi and had bento boxes - with stuff I’m not familiar with! - and Cathye and I had teriyaki and yakisoba noodles which were both very good! A fun evening!

We didn’t have any alcoholic drinks there, so after we left them, I guess Penny and Cherrelyn headed over to The Landing here in town. This is the brewing building surrounded by the new food truck plaza. Looks like they had a good time!

Thursday, June 16th., 2022……  The weather is still pretty unpredictable. One day it’s nice, the next it’s rainy!  Still no word on the deck project. All I can get out of Dana is that they are still trying to finish up work on their current project. Cathye is about ready to kill me! (kidding) but I am starting to get upset about the timeline now….

Cathye and I headed over to drop off my boat. We think the impeller is clogged up because it’s not pumping water. He will check it out and replace the impeller ($27.45) anyway since it’s going to be open. Mark and Wendy have just taken over at Cascades Outboards and Vintage Marine. I met both of them and liked them right away. He’s a local pastor and worked for Jon and then took on the business to stay busy and earn more money. I left the boat and came back to relax at home for a while before making it to my 12:45pm massage with Emily. After that, I came home and hung some of the wedding pics on the wall. Or rather, I finished mounting them in the frames and figuring out a layout for them. Still waiting for a few more from Cathye…

Friday, June 17th., 2022……  Housekeepers were coming this morning, so we picked up dog toys and put stuff away. Josh’s shipment from New Hampshire showed up today. 14 boxes! I helped the UPS guy stack them in the garage and we let them know they are one short of the 15 that were shipped. Rob said it probably got held up somewhere and would come next week. Hopefully. But we let Josh’s mom and him know. As a reminder, Josh is Cathye’s grandson (from Terisa in New Hampshire) who is moving west and has rented a place in Portland.  Anyway, we have his reservation time and his shuttle from Portland to us is booked. He’ll be staying here until his place is available (on the 24th). We will drop off a car at the shuttle drop-off  lot at the hotel for him to drive home since he won’t get there until 2:30am or so!  He gets here next Monday and will be with us until Friday when we will help him get all of these boxes (and anything else we have here to help him move in) up there. Just a few more details to iron out.  We had planned on going out tonight to the Sweet Home Elks lodge for some country western/line dancing but at the last minute neither of us felt like going. Cathye has some pain in her left shoulder and I said I was tired so she wouldn’t push us going. Swings and twirls and such would definitely be felt tomorrow! So, we just stayed home and relaxed and had pasta and wine for a nice quiet dinner! This was actually part of a gift basket from Les and Dee and just needed to be cooked and assembled. It was delicious. Cathye made a no-bake chocolate chiffon pie which was also very tasty!

Tv until bedtime.

Saturday, June 18th., 2022……  Not too much on the agenda today. We needed to hit Walmart again so we did that. Even weekends here at the local stores aren’t really that big of a deal. Not anything like the crowds in SoCal!  Later in the afternoon, we changed clothes and headed off to Sweet Home where Cathye’s church friends, Kay and Joe, were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary!  Even though the weather wasn’t cooperating, it was well attended. Ted, the minister at our wedding, did the renewal of vows. It was a lovely afternoon and we enjoyed the celebration. Later, we came home and changed and relaxed for the evening. We talked a little about Father’s Day plans for tomorrow.  We’re going to take the pups for a nice drive up to Detroit Lakes. After that we watched some more tv and then headed off to bed.

Oregon Living 2022 – Blog #23 – Birthdays, Getting Windows Cleaned and a Short Fishing Trip!

Sunday, June 5th., 2022……  HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARYANNE!  Maureen and Cathye headed off to church and I stayed behind to clean up from the party yesterday. I got a lot of the items broke down and stowed away, leaving the larger items when I have help. Glenn slept in but came out to help and Penny and Cherrelyn came over to help when the girls got back from church and we got everything put away with no problem.  All that remains are the plastic chairs on loan from the church that we need to return, but we’ll do that this next week. Maureen and Glenn said their goodbyes and headed back down south. They needed to be back before Monday so they could attend a kindergarten graduation.  The rains came later in the day so we are happy to have all of that help so everything stayed dry! After that, we rested and we were done for the day.

Monday, June 6th., 2022…… We needed to go to Albany for two reasons today. One, for Jamie and the other to look at freezers at Lowes and Home Depot. Our garage freezer, that, if I can remember right, is roughly 25 years old. We came out Saturday morning – of all days! – to find a trail of water 8 feet long coming from it! So, Cathye emptied it, tossing anything super defrosted, and saving what was still frozen, stuffing everything into the tiny top freezer in the garage and in the side by side in the house. Anyway, I had taken the door off and it was ready for pickup!

But first we had to wait for the window washer guy to come. He showed up about 9:00am and got to work, cleaning outside and inside, including all of the screens. He was an older gentleman but worked constantly and knew his stuff!  He made quick work of outside and, except for one window with stubborn water spots on it, everything cleaned up well. He did the inside

and even got the high up ones both front and rear!  As he left, he said he would come back on Friday with some stuff (some kind wax type paste) that he would use to remove the water spots from that one window. We were pleased with his work and will hire him again!

Once he left, we took off to find that freezer. We found that both stores had no stock on any freezers except chest style which we didn’t want. We stopped at the local-owned appliance store here in Lebanon on the way home and they had one that was exactly what we wanted! We bought it and arranged for delivery on Wednesday afternoon. That was perfect! We headed home and had leftover tacos and wedding cake for dinner and relaxed and watched tv until bedtime.

Tuesday, June 7th., 2022…… HAPPY BIRTHDAY IN HEAVEN LYDIA!

I was pleased when Cathye took a picture of the flower pot that Bobby and Diane had given me at the Celebration of Life. The plant was doing well and she posted the pic along with a nice tribute to Lydia. She got a lot of FB comments and best wishes and remembrances. Nice moment!  I had visions of going fishing this week in the boat. Cathye has not yet seen the inside of it let alone gone out in it, so I thought we would go on Thursday, since neither of us had anything on our calendars. I went out and put a charger on the battery and a trash can with water in it under the engine so I could run the motor for a bit. It took off after a few tries but once it was running, I noticed no water was exiting the bypass tube. I think my impeller for the water pump isn’t working. So, I had to put it away for the day. Later. I called the boat yard where I bought it and was told that Jon had sold the business to Mark, who I spoke to. He said he is booked out until August but if I could get him the engine year and model number and/or serial number, he will order an impeller for install next Tuesday. Yaay!    Today was also great granddaughter Lilly’s birthday party. Her birthday was last week but they choose today to have a party at Waterloo Park. We went a bit late and took our chairs. They were late too and got a covered gazebo but one without a bbq. So, they scrambled and brought one in. But we didn’t plan to eat hot dogs anyway. We left the young’uns and headed to the Hangry Truck and got our hamburgers and onion rings and took them home and relaxed for the evening.

Wednesday, June 8th., 2022……  Cathye had a leisure day today!  Actually, she wasn’t feeling well. No fever or anything like that, just tired and she had a sore throat. So, I told her to rest up and spent the day in bed. She texted SHEM to let them know she wouldn’t be in today. I tended to her all day and worked on laundry and did some more clean up in the shop. She felt better later in the day but we still hung out at home all day.  She was still ready for fishing and we talked about just doing some shore fishing at Foster Lake tomorrow. So, I spent some time changing line on a few reels and got things planned out for tomorrow – but only if she’s feeling better!  We hung out and watched tv together before calling it a night.

Thursday, June 9th., 2022……  I was up and showered before 5:00am this morning. When I got finished, I asked Cathye how she felt. She was feeling better and wanted to go fishing! She got up and made coffee and let the dogs out and then got dressed and put together some sandwiches and drinks.  We loaded up the tackle and the chairs and the dogs and we headed off, stopping for breakfast at McDonald’s on the way to my shoreline spot on Foster. No one was there! Yes!  Once we got set up and had lines in the water, it only took a few minutes to get fish!  She said she wanted to keep enough for dinner so we did put them on the stringers, even though they were only stockers, maybe 12 inches or so. All day all we could get were small fish but it was super fun!  We probably released another dozen or so. Rylee took an interest in the fish as we brought them up on the bank.

The weather was perfect!  No rain but not a lot of sun either. Temps in the high 60s so I was out of my sweats and jacket pretty quickly. We left the lake with nine keepers and I think we released another dozen or so, so it was a good day for catching!  We got back home and I had to clean fish!  No worries, it was easy and we kept four out for dinner and froze the others.  I ate my lunch late so when dinnertime came, neither of us was hungry. Before that, Cathye had got a text from Robin asking when we were bringing back the chairs. I was done with cleaning fish, so we loaded up the chairs in my truck and I headed off to meet up with her at the church. Cathye stayed home and rested since we were up early this morning. I got back and we both relaxed for the remainder of the day. We decided to save the fish for tomorrow and just snacked and watched a couple of our taped programs before calling it an early night!  We were tired but it was a good day!

Friday, June 10th., 2022……  Found out today that our friend, Shirley, from Shirley May’s restaurant has passed. If you remember from previous posts, this was a staple for us and a favorite place to go with friends and family – up until she was forced to close because the owner didn’t want to bring the place up to new codes. We lost track of her after that but knew she hadn’t opened another place. Now we hear she’s passed. So sorry to hear. We ate breakfast at home and as we were finishing, our window guy showed up and spent maybe 10-15 minutes polishing the spots off that on window. It looks amazing!  We left shortly after he did and headed over to Albany and ran some errands. We needed to stop at the Animal Control building and renew Rylee’s license (note – we will have to come back because I forgot to bring her recent proof of rabies vaccination!), then we went to do some shopping at Kohls – because we had a 30% off card! – and then finished up at Costco. On the way home we saw that our favorite strawberry hut was open, so we stopped and got a flat. Boy, they are not cheap! When we got home and had everything unloaded Cathye cleaned and sliced and made strawberry jam and then flash froze the rest, but not before we held some out for dessert later. It will go well with the rest of our wedding cake!

Saturday, June 11th., 2022……  Today was nice for the most part. Rain was coming later so I decided to not try to mow today. I hung around the house and worked on cleaning up my fishing bag and rods and reels. I watched some of my races while Cathye and her friend Judie left to go hit Hobby Lobby. Later, when they returned, I helped unload some frames and some pictures. The frames will be for our wedding wall and the pictures will go in the guest bath and in our bedroom. After that, the rains came and we hung around the house for the rest of the evening and had our fish for dinner and watched some of our taped shows. The fall shows are ending and we are now almost caught up on all that we have had taped.

Oregon Living 2022 – Blog #22 – Memorial Day & then later - Our Special Day!

Sunday, May 29th., 2022……  Riley is back to normal! I have her on the antibiotics and will continue until they are gone. Good thing she eats them like treats! Today, after walking and feeding the girls, we took Jama and went off in my truck to church. But the first stop was The Point for breakfast. After that, we went over to the cemetery on the road by Foster Lake. This is where Jim’s interment gravestone is. He was cremated, but Cathye has spread some of his ashes here on the gravestone, which was slated for him and his first wife. She has had his passing date added to the stone per his wishes. We spent a few minutes there and then went on to church. After the service, we gathered up 30 plastic lawn chairs for our reception next week. We headed home and unloaded and I was able to catch up on 2 of the 3 big races today – The Monaco Grand Prix and The Indianapolis 500. The Nascar Coca Cola 600 was later in the day and I started that but couldn’t finish. There’s always tomorrow!

Monday, May 30th., 2022…… MEMORIAL DAY Today  -  I remember being asked about service on this day. I always tell folks that Armed Forces Day honors those still in uniform – Veterans Day is for those who hung up their uniform – and Memorial Day is for those who never made it out of their uniform. Today, please remember those who died serving our country!

Today we needed to get our dishes ready for an outing!  For many, many years now, Cathye and her friends have been going to Pioneer Park in Brownsville for Memorial Day. After losing spouses over the years, the folks took to bringing that person’s famous dish. I was asked to go last year and did Lydia’s ice cream cake dessert. This year I chose to try her famous Death by Chocolate. We had gone to the store and I got everything prepped last night while Cathye put together everything for Jim’s famous baked beans. We put them together this morning and had them ready to go to meet everyone at 1:00pm. We took the dogs and chairs and drinks and headed out. The weather was a little iffy so we chose to use the pavilion, which was empty. No rains but windy and the cottonwoods were exploding and the air looked like it was snowing! No worries though. We had 15 or so show up and we had a good time.  Afterward, we drove over to visit Jamie and dropped off some food along with his weekly allowance. He was sleeping and was groggy but glad she brought him dinner! Once we got home, we kicked back and rested for the evening and went to bed early.

Tuesday, May 31st., 2022…… Today starts the prep for the party this Saturday. We didn’t ask for RSVPs so we’re not sure but we expect we will have somewhere around fifty people show up throughout the afternoon/evening. The weather right now is 40% chance of rain but we will prepare for that with canopies and other covered areas. I think I have a plan for where things will go and where cars can park. It will be hectic but we should be ready for it come Saturday! We found that my stockpile of 14 ft. 1x6 lumber and several sawhorses and table coverings will make a couple of grand tables which will go under the big ‘revival tent’ we have! Other tables and popups will work as well and hopefully the masseuses and the caterer will bring their own. If you know me, you know I will double check that!  I have three big plastic bins for soft drinks, water and sodas. Just need ice for those. As I mentioned, I will be checking to see if I need to mow again but right now it looks like we’re good as is. We’ll know more as the week progresses. We also put the final marine coat on the trellis. It’s a light grey – almost white. Cathye found some navy paint to use as accents and I think it looks great! Will post a pic once it’s installed out in the garden. After we were done for the day, I decided to surprise Cathye with dinner and a movie!  We drove to Albany and went to the Depot for fish and chips and then came back to town to the show. We saw Top Gun Maverick. It was terrific!

Wednesday, June 1st., 2022……  Cathye headed off to SHEM this morning.  I worked on loading up the trellis to take to the garden area. When she got back, I used the Cushman and we balanced it and offloaded it out by the garden. We will wait for Corey to help move it to the final spot later. Ok, it’s later now. Corey and I did move it to its spot

and then he continued on the ditch cleaning project out front and finished that up.  We came in and rested and settled in and ate dinner and watched tv until bedtime.

Thursday, June 2nd., 2022……  Cathye’s sister Maureen and her husband Glenn from Sacramento came to stay for a few days and attend our reception Saturday. They were due in sometime this evening. Today was also the first day of the Lebanon Strawberry Festival. This is a big deal here in town. They have a nice park/fairgrounds/outdoor venue called Cheadle Lake. They always try to bring in name talent for concerts Thursdays thru Saturday. Tonight, it was Jo Dee Messina. We left around 5:30pm with the intention of having Maureen and Glenn go straight there and meet up with us when they got into town. We got parked and then set up chairs for everyone before the concert. We got right up to within 20 feet of the stage! More on that later!  Then, we had to go find my favorite food truck in the area to have dinner. Chou’s Vietnam truck was right there and Brian was behind the grill and had both his kids working the window. We got two order of Yakisoba Noodles with Chicken and found we could only eat one between us. No worries – I took the rest out to the car and we will have that tomorrow for lunch.

We went to the beer garden next and sat and drank and visited with some folks at our table. A few minutes later, Maureen and Glenn found us and we headed off to our seats. Briana Renea was the opening act and she was fantastic!

When Jo Dee came onstage, the mosh pit folks took over. They stood up the whole concert and we were amazed to see so many teeny boppers going wild and singing to her music! It was difficult to see at times and we would opt for way back seating next time, but it was still fun!

After the concert, we both made our way back to the house and they got settled in their room and, since it was late, we visited for only a few minutes before calling it a night.

Friday, June 3rd., 2022……  We slept in a bit and then had breakfast here. Today is setup day. We have two large swapmeet type covers plus 4 popups to figure out where to stage. The food guys said they would need one of the popups. Corey and Penny came over and helped with the setup. Maureen and Glenn were here to help as well. We managed to get everything up and tables and chairs ready before any rains came. Glenn and Maureen then headed off to tour around. They drove up to Silver Falls and hiked below the waterfall and said it was amazing!  When they got back, we had a casserole for dinner. Later, the rains did come! It was a lot of rain in a short period of time and as we went to bed, we are now thinking about moving everything!  We’ll wait until tomorrow and see where we are with the weather.

Saturday, June 4th., 2022……  Today, besides setup, Cathye wanted to go to the street parade. She had taken chairs down to main street yesterday to reserve space. But first up, was the big move!  We had discussed the weather and I said we could just move the motorhome out of the garage and use that space and Cathye said, “Let’s do that!” We moved the cars and then I parked the motorhome in the rv pad outside and cleaned out the rest of the garage. It took all of us moving chairs and tables but we got it done. John and Neysi would set up the food in the shop garage. The massage chairs and the wine would be in the house garage and the rv garage had everything else!  We were ready for the 3:00pm party!  Cathye and Maureen and Glenn went to the parade early and made sure all of the seating was dry. I didn’t have an interest in the parade so I stayed home and moved some chairs. When they got back, Maureen and Glenn staged the tables and I added ice to the drink tubs and Cathye changed into her wedding dress. She has decided to wear it one last time! It will be donated after we clean it but no worries!  Other than that, the dress code was casual for everyone else. She even had me wear all black – shorts, shoes, shirt and groom hat! We were ready. The weather kept some folks away and folks came and went so we had plenty of seating for everyone. The food was good and the drinks flowed and I know those who got massages were very happy and thanked me many times for providing that today for them! The party ended around 7:00pm and we packed up any remaining food and left chairs and tables for tomorrow. We came in and rested from a very long but enjoyable day! Thanks to all who braved the weather to be with us for our special event!
