Sunday, December 25th., 2022…… MERRY
CHRISTMAS !!! The plan
today was pretty easy. Open our gifts. Wait until Penny got here and open her
gifts. Then wait until the kids get here and open their gifts! We went and got
Jamie and opened those gifts. It took a
while but everyone made it and we were ready for dinner. Everyone but Heather,
Charley and Jess were here for dinner. They are driving down from Seattle area
and will go see Heather’s side of the family before coming here to spend the
night. But we have the guest room and the blowup bed ready and waiting! Dinner
was great! We had ham and turkey breast.
Penny made scalloped potatoes and we had green beans and yams and rolls. And
pumpkin cake for dessert! Everything was
yummy! We were lucky someone mentioned
pictures before everyone left so we could get a couple!
seated: Terry, Cathye, Jamie, Corey, Brandon, Vickie, Bailey. standing: Penny, Cherrelyn
standing: Penny and Larry (Cherrelyn's son)
Sorry, we missed pics of Heather and family!
Monday, December 26th., 2022…… The girls left early because they were heading off to breakfast with
family before driving back to Seattle. The rains have hit here pretty hard.
They expect heavy rain and strong winds. Those all hit later in the evening.
The pups were a little nervous when a gust of wind comes through and rattles
the windows. But the windows are good quality (thanks Walt (the orig. owner)!) so
it wasn’t too bad and the dogs quickly settled down in bed with us and we all
listened to it until we fell asleep!
Tuesday, December 27th., 2022…… More winds and rain today. It was
raining so hard we skipped the dog walk this morning. Rylee always likes going
out, even in the rain, but Jama not so much, so she was happy. We hung around
the house and did some chores and saw that no one was coming today for any deck
work and Cathye had a 2:00pm doctor’s appointment in Corvallis, so we decided
to leave at noon and go hit McMenamins in Albany beforehand for lunch. I had
blue cheese steak bites and Cat had a turkey au jus sandwich; both were very
good! We finished up with the doctor’s
appointment and then headed back home and were in for the night.
Wednesday, December 28th., 2022…… No rain this morning. Russ showed up with a load of gravel, which will
get spread out under the deck. This will help them walk on it and work on it.
Not sure who is going to spread it out though. That’s for Russ and John to
figure out. We’re tired of anticipating! We hung around the house again today.
Neither of us had much energy to go anywhere so we didn’t. Just took it easy. I
did make some decisions about hanging some hooks in our closet. I will be doing
three rows – one for me for pants and sweats and one row of hooks for Cat’s
necklaces and such and another below that for her robes and bed shirts,
etc.
Thursday, December 29th., 2022…… Rains
again today, so no work going on. We drove in to Elmer’s in Albany for German
pancakes and then on to Lowes to get the hooks. I spent some time on them but
still have to rest because I’m winded a bit lately. The chest congestion is
lingering but is starting to break up. That means coughing a lot! I hate that because it makes for achy muscles!
Please, I just want to rest now! Cathye has been doing everything around here
this past few weeks because I have been down and out with no energy. But each day gets better so I hope to be back
to normal soon!
Friday, December 30th., 2022…… We got a delivery today! There was a lumber truck here early this
morning delivering gluelam beams and 2x8s and plywood and….!
They still have to have what Russ calls ‘buckets’ made. These are steel hangers to support the crossbeams on the columns and have to be welded. Those parts are not here and won’t be coming in the next few weeks. ☹ Meanwhile, I am still recovering and still don’t have too much energy and I’m still coughing up stuff, so even though I was out walking with the dogs this morning and felt ok, Cathye called Penny over to help her pack up Christmas stuff. I helped but I must admit it was a whole lot easier on me with the three of us working and them doing most of the work. Cathye even did the ‘elf on the shelf’ this time and got all of the lights and stuffies from the upper entryway. Cat also went and got my prescription (still had insurance issues but we paid for it anyway!) and I hope that helps. Corey and Vickie came by and Cathye had a plan for them to move all of the boxes out to the shop garage. I have pictures of how to stack them so all we needed today was to get them out there. They also brought in a shelf that Cat wants in her office closet so they moved that in from the rv garage as well. Thanks guys! We still have a few more boxes around that will need to go out with the rest but we will get to those later. Cathye stopped on the way back from the pharmacy and brought back Taco Bell so we had an early dinner. We watched tv in our respective rooms until bedtime.
Saturday, December 31st., 2022…… NEW YEARS EVE!!! I am feeling much better today!
Energy is for sure coming back! I’m probably back to 80%! We
walked the dogs and gave them breakfast. Rylee has a new high-rise dog feeder
and does not like it! Hopefully, her appetite
will prevail. Weather is just ok today. Little bit of rain on and off
throughout the day. I worked some on my hook project in the closet and got one
wall done (minus one hook which I need to go get). Cathye continues to clean up
the house and get things back to normal after Christmas. The ‘snow people’ are
still out and around but she has storage bins for those so the rest of our
stuff can go out to the garage to be stacked away. She took off for a few hours
to go visit Lona and Misty. When she returned, she said she has decided to go
back to their place again later today to celebrate New Year’s eve with them.
Not that anyone will stay up that late! So it will be just me and the girls
here to relax and watch football.
Ok, it’s later now and she came
home early so we were able to watch some of the new Year’s celebrations on tv.
I found the country western celebration from The Wildhorse Saloon in Nashville.
Happy New Year to our friends and family. May 2023 be healthy and happy for all of us!
