Sunday, June 1st., 2025…… After we were up and going and had breakfast, Cat headed off to church. Today was Kaynor and Nick’s Garden Party. We
had chips and dip and grabbed our chairs and headed over. They are only about 6
minutes from us, in Sodaville. They had games set up and most played for a few
hours, the rest sat around and visited. After a potluck meal, we headed back
because we needed to feed the dogs. We settled in for the evening.
Monday, June 2nd., 2025…… After walking and feeding the
girls, we headed out to the gym and then to Kevin’s. When we got back, I
immediately called again to our insurance company. I expect to pick up the bike
this week so I needed to get it added to our policy. Trouble is they don’t
insure bikes under the blanket policy. Also, our agent retired 5 years ago, so
our new guy wants to do a price check and get back to us. Our homeowners and
car policies are due, so he is going to re-review them for better rates. I also
spent some time with Sirius Radio getting our Buick’s switched. That guy also
reviewed and merged our other contracts (Cat had one on the truck in her old
name) and we added the Honda this time and still managed to get a nice price
break as a bundle. I finished the Indy Car, Nascar and Motocross races today as
well. They recently moved the Nascar Cup Series to Prime Tv. We have Prime, so
it’s free but it’s so hard to watch and replay. Nascar is losing fans left and
right these days anyway and this will not help those folks who don’t have or
can’t afford a pay per view station. Hope they change back soon!
Tuesday, June 3rd., 2025…… Not much on the agenda today. Weather
is heating up! Temps are in the 80s
right now but it will be in the 90s by the end of the week. I went to the square dance workshop but that
was about it. Cathye has been busy working on her scrapbook from the cruise and
she finished it today. It really looks great! She set it up showing our day-to-day so folks
can see our trip.
Later, we went out to Chef Rick’s Global
Kitchen (formerly Kento’s) and had dinner. Our friend Rick wasn’t there. I am
sorry to say we didn’t really enjoy the meal. They had run out of steak so we
had chicken and shrimp with noodles. The chicken was burnt and the shrimp was
overcooked. Not a good meal. While we were there, we planned out our weekend.
We are going over on Thursday to Rachel’s where the Club’s parade float is
being moved to. Rachel is close to the parade starting point, so it’s a perfect
place to set up and decorate the float. On Friday, we’re having a dance at the
senior center. As a matter of fact, we have the center for the entire weekend! Our
biggest dance of the year is Saturday. We have two silent auctions to plan for.
On Friday, they will auction off baked goods. On Saturday, we will have over
100 items out and available for silent bids. We also have the parade going.
Busy, busy! I got a call and text from
our insurance guy. He set up our policy for the bike, so we are good to go, at
least for that. More next week when our policy hits it’s review date.
Wednesday, June 4th., 2025…… We slept in this morning. Once we
had the dogs walked and fed, we each worked on our own projects. I wanted to
cut out the pine shrub that is out in Cathye’s garden area. It is out of
control and taking over the area, so she wants it out. While I was getting
tools out for that, she worked on the tree next to our driveway. It has been
doing poorly for the past year. Most of the branches have mossed over and have
died. But we can see there is still life
left, so she decided we needed to prune it. I helped her with the larger branches
and we got those out to the burn pile. The pine shrub removal went well and we
had that cut down and out on the burn pile in a few minutes. It was getting hot
so we were pretty much done for the day.
Thursday, June 5th., 2025…… HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARYANNE! Once we were up and going, we walked
and fed the girls and headed out to breakfast. We decided to skip the gym
today. We went to Kristie’s for breakfast. When we parked we saw Rick coming
out with coffee, heading down to his restaurant. We told him we missed him. He
asked how everything was – and I told him! Sorry, Rick. While we were there, I called about the bike.
They had the oil changed and have the brake parts, but she said they were still
waiting for the tires. They won’t be in until Tuesday. I asked if I could come
get it and then bring it back then. We came back home and let the dogs out, and
I picked up my helmet and then headed up and I rode the bike home. It was the
first time I had ridden it! It took some
time to get used to, but I got it home with no issues.
When we got home, Cathye planned
out her needs to bake two strawberry rhubarb pies, one for our potluck and one
for the bake auction. She needed rhubarb so she went out looking for that. Luckily,
she made calls before leaving the house. All of the produce stands had an early
crop and were all out, so she ended up going to the farmer’s market, hoping one
of the locals had some. We had massage
appointments so she had just enough time to stop there and check before hers.
Success! Later, when I put the bike
away, I noticed that I had oil leaking from the drain plug! I will have to keep on that and get it fixed
next week.
Later, we took the bike over to
Rachel’s. Frank, our float coordinator, needed to see it before okaying it for
the parade. The plan is for us to be in square dance outfits and ride out in
front. We have an older banner that I can turn into a flag for the bike. We got
the float done while Rachels’ roommate was grilling chicken for us. It looks
great! We headed back home and we were done for the night!
Friday, June 6th., 2025…… Tonight we have the potluck and dance. There are several folks coming in
today to dry camp in the senior center parking lot. No hookups and it will be
hot, so we are passing on that! We
agreed to help bring over all of the items for the silent auction so we took
two vehicles and went over to Kaynor’s to get all of that. Once we dropped it
off, we met up with the rest of the group who all pitched in to set up the
hall. We also do a vintage square dance clothing sale and all of the racks and
tables have to be set up for that as well. But there were probably 20 folks
there, so it only took a few hours to get everything ready. We came home and Cathye
baked her two pies. We rested until it was time to change and head over. The
meal was good and well attended. There was a lot of interest and bids on both
the silent auction items and the baked goods. At the end of the evening, Cat’s
pie sold for $17.00! Since we will be back tomorrow, we didn’t need to clean up
anything except the kitchen. We got back home and called it a night. We were
beat!
