Oregon Living 2025 – Blog #36 – A Busy Birthday Week!

Sunday, September 14th., 2025……  We made more chorizo for everyone this morning. Later, the four of us we taught Crystal how to play Swoosh. I think she did well and probably will teach it to the folks in MO soon! Shaun needed to go back to his trailer and get ready for his lessons tonight, but before that, I got out the Pedegos and they both took rides on them. Shaun is one of only 2 or 3 that are tall enough to ride mine (it’s a 29” frame). I think they liked them! Later, they left to go dump their holding tanks and would park at the class and go home from there. They went in to the new round dance class to help out. We left a bit later and took Crystal with us. She got her first night of square dance lessons tonight! She liked it and had a smile on her face the whole evening. Cathye looked up classes in their area in MO. But - to be honest - I do not see her dragging Michael out to dance any time soon! After class, we all went over to James Gang Pizza for the afterparty. I think we had 20 there. Once we got home, we were ready for bed.

Monday, September 15th., 2025…… The plan today was to go hit the gym and then have Crystal meet us for breakfast at Kevin’s. But, we slept in so we skipped the gym and just all went to breakfast. Later, we loaded up Crystal’s luggage and headed down to the Eugene airport to see her off. It was sure fun having her visit!

After that, we drove on down to south Eugene to Northwest RV parts to check on a part for the motorhome. No luck, but at least we looked! When we got back home, we cleaned up a bit and then rested for the day.

Tuesday, September 16th., 2025…… Nothing on the agenda today except the workshop for me, so we walked and fed the girls, ate breakfast, then headed off to Albany to go to Hobby Lobby (bought some fake shrubs for the spa area). Oh yeah, we have an upcoming service call for the spa, but at this time, we can’t set up a date since we will be out of town next week. He said he may be able to get her this week but we’ll see… After that, we stopped by the paint store to check on colors and prices for deck paint for the front porch. Then it was off to Costco for another pricey spend! When we got back and got the groceries put away, it was time for me to head off to the workshop. When I got home, Cathye said she had dinner planned but we would eat later. So, tv and rest for the afternoon. Later, tv and bed.

Wednesday, September 17th., 2025…… We had haircuts today so we headed off to that after breakfast. Most of the rest of the day was spent washing clothes and working on cleaning the house. We watched some of the tv programs we have taped. We are almost done with everything and will have to wait until the new fall shows come out.

Thursday, September 18th., 2025…… Nothing on the list today. We are working on inviting folks to come join us when Cathye makes her birthday jump out of a perfectly good airplane!  Yes, she’s a little apprehensive! But I think she’ll go through with it!

Friday, September 19th., 2025…… A lot on the list today. We have a fund raiser event to go to later tonight, but first up is Cathye’s decorating party. She has invited several ladies over to make fall holiday pumpkins. Lydia used to make these in the past and Cat has taken to them too! She has the material and the girls made a couple each. Here is a pic from that afternoon…

Later, we changed and drove up to Keiser to the Project Living Hope fundraiser. Anita, our friend from church, sponsors a table and we joined her and others for the evening. PLH is a group headed up by Anita’s and Nick’s son-in-law and their daughter and is set up for the folks in Haiti. They struggle with life in that country and this is a great cause. It was a nice event and we had an authentic Haitian dinner as well. It was a long day and we were glad to get back home to rest for the night.

Saturday, September 20th., 2025…… HAPPY BIRTHDAY CATHYE!!!  After breakfast, Penny came over and we headed down to Creswell for her jump. We would be at Eugene Skydivers, where I was this time last year. But today was Cat’s turn!  She was a little nervous but signed in and watched the video and then got suited up. Well – harness and goggles! The weather was 72° with clear skies and a few clouds so it was a perfect day!  Cherrelyn joined us as did Corey and Vikki and family!  We all watched her through the process and saw her come out of the plane and watched her chute open and swirl in turns as she descended to a perfect stand-up landing! Here are pics from the morning!...

After that, we all went up to Eugene to The Original Roadhouse for lunch. Cat shared that she was ok for most of the jump but was a little hesitant in stepping out of the plane. She also was a little nauseous when her instructor did that spiral turn! But she thought it was a fun afternoon!

Later, when we got back and everyone left, we had to change to make it to the Club dance. That was fun and they all sung happy birthday to Cat there!  We left the dance and came home to bed after a long but fun day!
