Sunday, November 17th., 2024…… HAPPY BIRTHDAY FELIX! Cold again this morning. But it is
raining so that raised the temp to 48°. We skipped our walk today and just let
the girls out in the back. I left to go get breakfast, but not before we video-called
to wish grandson Felix a happy birthday!
Later, Cathye headed off to church. I worked on the blog and got it posted and then relaxed in the warm house and watched tv all day. Cathye did the same when she got back. Later, we went off to our class. We have had a good group of new dancers this time. I think there are still about 10-12 that are staying and loving learning this activity! After class, we decided to try a new place for our afterparty. We went to the Linn Lanes Bowling Center. They have a grill and make really tasty burgers. We have been several times so we knew the group would like the food. After a nice visit, we headed home. Spa and then bed.
Monday, November 18th., 2024…… Today I had an early appointment. Last week,
my sister had her garage door serviced, and since ours is due plus the remotes
need to be programmed, I scheduled that for today. Tony (the same guy Penny had) came over and I
had already spoke to him last week about what he needed to do here. So, he got
started. It only took a short time and he had everything programmed correctly,
including the remotes in both our car and Penny’s. She can use it to park in
the garage when she stays here. He also serviced the garage door mechanisms.
They are really quiet now! After he
left, I wanted to call him back to do the rv and shop garages too! Oh well, maybe next time! So, with all that
going, we couldn’t go to the gym or to breakfast. The rest of the day was spent
just working and lounging around the house. Cathye did some laundry in preparation
for her upcoming trip. I worked on the spreadsheet for our cruise. We have paid
for about ¾ of it so far when asked by Lynette when she needs to. Later, tv,
spa and bed.
Tuesday, November 19th., 2024…… Today was busy! We were up with
the dogs and got them walked and fed. Then Cathye left to go to her wellness
check with her doctor. We were both supposed to go for haircuts today, but only
Cathye would make that. I had to head off to a bylaws meeting for our Club at the
senior center at 11:30am. She finished her appointment and then came by to
bring me a hard-boiled egg and a drink which I forgot to take. She went off to
get her haircut while I had my meeting. We met up again at our class, just next
door for me! After that, we came back and
rested for the day. More last minute laundry and packing. Tomorrow Cathye
leaves for her trip. So, we called it an early night. We would be up and going
in a few hours!
Wednesday, November 20th., 2024…… Yep, just like I said – a few hours. I set the alarm for 1:30am! We had the coffee made and let the dogs out and then took off at 2:05am for the drive to Portland. The traffic was light and the weather just a bit rainy and windy so we made good time. I dropped her off in plenty of time for her flight and was back home at 5:20am and went back to bed for a few hours. I got up and dressed and walked and fed the dogs. I had nothing else planned for the rest of the day, so I was able to take a nap. Cat called later saying that she made it to Dallas and was at the gate waiting for the next leg. Later, she called to say she was in Springfield, MO and in son Michael’s custody now!
All was well. I took off
to go to dinner at Sum Yan Chinese where they had the Club general membership
meeting. That went well and I was able to report out on our progress with the
Club’s New Year’s Eve dance. I think we are in good shape for now. After that,
I came back home and talked with Cathye. She sent pics of dinner. It was rabbit….
And looked yummy! After that, I
watched tv for a short time then went off to bed early. It was a long day!
Thursday, November 21st., 2024…… I slept in a little this morning. Cathye was up and
running with the dogs and family.
I think they were going out to breakfast and to go visit other family in the area. Later, she sent me pics from dinner..
Friday, November 22nd., 2024…… Today was another quiet day for me. Until later. I got a call from Corey saying he and Vikki were broke down on the side of the road somewhere around Salem. Since they live here in town now, the kids go to school here. They weren’t going to be able to make it to pick them up at 2:10pm, so they asked me to do it. No worries, I was there in line and they found me and we got back home easily. I made them some pigs in a blanket but didn’t hear the timer go off – so they were burnt! But later I made bagel dogs while Brandyn worked on a pencil drawing and Baylee watched tv. Corey came later and got them after installing an alternator in the car. What started out as a lazy day, turned busy quickly! I talked with Cat before she went to bed. She sent pics from breakfast earlier
and then one from a basketball game they went to. One of the nieces (?) is a cheerleader.
I spent the rest of the evening
watching tv, then let the girls out before bed. Long day!
Saturday, November 23rd., 2024…… Cold morning here! I was outside working in
the shop and Robin came by to pick up Jama’s doggie stroller. We talked a bit.
She is the one with our old Acadia and it looks good as ever! I’m sure glad we
gave her the opportunity to buy it from us. She loves it! After she left, I
worked on my costume for New Year’s Eve. I now have all of the components for ‘Father
Time’. I had the wig/beard and robe and sash, but needed a scythe and an
hourglass. They came today, so I am ready! Pics. Later…
The day was spent mostly watching
college football. I enjoyed these games today. Later in the afternoon, I
watched the Oregon State Beavers play the Washington State Cougars. The Beavs
and the Cougs are always a rivalry and this game was no exception! It went down
to the last few seconds and OSU won it with a field goal. Cathye and I had
already talked earlier and she was headed off to bed, but I knew she would like
to see the end result….
The Corvallis square dance club is
having a dance there tonight. I really didn’t want to go alone and knowing that
the game was maybe a mile away from the hall meant that traffic would be
terrible. So, I stayed home and relaxed. Watched tv and went to bed.
