Oregon Living 2026 – Blog #12 – Still in Some Pain & Finally Mowing!

Sunday, March 22nd., 2026…… HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARY!  The weather is back to rainy. But for this morning at least, it is sunny. Cat walked and fed the girls and I headed off to pick up breakfast and coffee. I had a nice night’s sleep, even with getting up a few times to pee, and I am feeling much better this morning. We’ll see about class later today….

We spent the day just lounging around and watching tv. We unloaded the yard sale items we received last night, but that was about it for the day!  We decided to skip class tonight and just watched tv until bed.

Monday, March 23rd., 2026…… Today the weather was nicer. Still cloudy but no rain. We are hoping to mow later this week if we get some sunny days to let the grass dry out. The only thing we had on the agenda today was lunch – Cathye’s lunch – with Judy. They brought me back a small pizza which I ate later for dinner. I am still having issues with urine output. I am drinking plenty of water but I still have issues with blood. Plus, it hurts to pee! I put a call in to my urologist but he hasn’t returned my call as of this evening.

Tuesday, March 24th., 2026…… HAPPY BIRTHDAY JANIE!  I called her and we got caught up on everything.  This morning, I heard back from the doctor’s office. They addressed my concerns and asked me some more questions. I gave them an update that I am feeling a little better. Less blood now but still a lot of pain. I was told that bleeding can occur for up to 3 weeks. They said to be concerned if I pass large clots of blood. So far, so good! And now I know more about how to address the pain. I have my consult next Monday.

Today we finally get the taxes done. We had everything ready months ago but for some reason, Cat’s financial company was late in getting her their tax form. They had sent us a letter that it would be mailed out later in Feb. or possibly in March. Well, we got it a few weeks ago! Anyway, that is now done!   Later, we got picked up by Mo and Toni and went over to the Berkeys to play cards with them and Frank and Marrianne. It was a fun night and I was the subject of a lot of conversation! Mike has already done the prostate treatment and explained it a bit. Not the treatment perse but that he had to go in once a day for 5 weeks. Each session was only 8-12 minutes in and out but he said he was worn out at the end. Like him, I will have to drive to Corvallis each time.

Wednesday, March 25th., 2026…… Nothing today. We have great weather so we did a little work outside. Cat worked on getting potting soil in a pot so she could transfer the strawberry plant from the raised bed to the pot. I worked a little on getting the mowers on the charger. Cat’s Cub Cadet (center in the pic) .

has either a weak battery or a weak starter, so I have to put in on the charger overnight. We also got the owner certificate (pink slip for those of you in Cali!) for the motorhome. I’m not sure if I have ever mentioned it on here before, but I have been trying to get the motorhome transferred to Cathye’s name for quite some time now.  Turns out since it’s financed, USAA won’t let me just change names. They require me to go through a whole new loan. I was lucky when we bought the coach to get a 5.5% loan – which is unheard of nowadays! So, that was not an option. We decided to just go ahead and transfer funds and pay it off early.

Thursday, March 26th., 2026…… Today was a regular day for our routine. We walked and fed the girls and then went to the gym before going to Kristi’s for breakfast. We both needed to get back to our groove!  Since Rylee has some restrictions from surgery, Cat had to reschedule her grooming, but later this morning, we took Jama in for hers.  It only took a short time and we get a call to come get her!  Meanwhile, Ryllee is doing really well. She still has times when she has trouble getting up from the floor. She limps for a bit then is ok. Other times, she’s fine. The doctor still has us walk her outside on a leash (yeah right!). We do keep them both on leash when we walk them up the street in the morning. She still gets trazadone daily to help her relax and not be so boisterous. But the stitches look great and her hair is coming back in quickly. We did go over to the DMV here in town (waited less than 7 minutes to get to the counter!) and got the motorhome title transferred to mine and Cat’s names. That’s done!

Friday, March 27th., 2026…… The plan for today is to mow!  Yaay! Penny said she wants to come try it to see if it bothers her shoulder. We walked and fed the dogs and checked out the grass. It was in the 30s last night so there is still some dampness on the ground. But it is supposed to get up to the mid-60s today and that will work for us to mow! I got the mowers out and gassed up. Yaay, they all started right up! We waited until close to 2:00pm and then started in.  Penny came and got going too. She took it easy but did great and we were done in quick order. I had one spot that was a quagmire and Cat found some soggy areas in the field but for the most part, we got it all done. Later, I took Cat out to dinner. We chose High Caliber Kitchen (I wrote about it before) for their delicious mac and cheese. But they had slow roasted prime rib on the special and we saw one coming out – so I ordered that and Cat got the mac and a salad and we shared. It was delicious. Can’t wait for friends and family to come up so we can take them there!  Speaking of family, I heard back from Kyle letting me know he has had some unexpected expenses come up so he has to, unfortunately, cancel his family trip here in June. We’re sad because we always enjoy their visits. When we got back, Cat went out and sprayed weedkiller on the French drain area. She ran out so we will start that up again tomorrow.

Saturday, March 28th., 2026…… No dances this weekend. We made plans for today though. We needed to go to the hardware store for some plumbing parts, a shower bottom sweep, and some more weedkiller. So yesterday I turned the main irrigation line back on for the blueberries and the rv pad and the one in the field where Rylee’s pool used to be. Anyway, I found I had two pipes that had burst sometime throughout the winter freezes. So, I have to get those repaired asap.  Later, we rested and stayed home. No dances in the area anyway.
